If you’re a female blogger and you haven’t heard of Style Collective, you’re missing out. Style Collective is a blogging community of thousands of female bloggers, all over the country, looking to build community over competition and wanting to connect with like minded women, while navigating their blogging career. I’ve been a member for 2 short months and have already gone to some awesome events and made some invaluable friendships, most of which started at our most recent gathering at Vivace to celebrate the launch of the groups first podcast, Becoming Fearless, by group founder Annie Spano.
Can I just say, while I’d passed Vivace many times on my way to various other locations in the Metropolitan shopping area, I had yet to stop in, so I was quite excited for them to be our host for the evening. Upon arrival, we were directed to the balcony area sofas, which are located directly above Little Sugar Creek Greenway and give a gorgeous view of downtown Charlotte. We were all provided with water … it was a bit toasty this particular day, but nice under the umbrellas … and given our choice of either white wine, red wine, or my personal favorite, a lime mojito that was insanely good. Chef John Caputo prepared a pre-fixed, family style, 3 course meal for us to enjoy and it did not disappoint.
The Eats
1st Course
Watermelon Cubes, Vin Cotto, Shaved Pecorino Cheese
This was such a perfect start to the meal, especially for the weather. The watermelon was sweet, juicy, and just the right size … the perfect warm weather amuse-bouche if you will. The vin cotto was a nice contrast, but the pecorino was the star of this show … I may be lactose intolerant (self and Google diagnosed), but I love cheese.
2nd
Smoked Buratta, Heirloom Tomatoes, Lemon Jam
Again, I love cheese and the smoked buratta was like a creamy version of bacon in my mouth … serious melt in your mouth perfection. While I don’t particularly care for tomatoes, I didn’t mind them combined with the cheese and lemon jam.
3rd
Grilled Lamb Porterhouse with Farro & Parsley Salad
This was my first time trying lamb as it’s one of those meats I’ve always shied away from for no real reason in particular. It looked amazing and I quite enjoyed it, there was no “gamey” taste like people sometimes refer to, but the farro and parsley salad was perfection to me. I had actually never heard of farro before, but I’ve told many, many people about it since in the unfortunate chance they were in the dark as I had been. I’m not quite sure how to describe the taste, but the texture was similar to rice and it went perfectly with the lamb.
A huge thank you to Vivace for hosting us for the night and providing us with stellar service. Our waitstaff was extreme friendly and attentive, the food was can’t miss, and the conversation with my Style Collective ladies was phenomenal. If you haven’t made it over yet, I would definitely recommend and make sure to grab one of those lime mojitos.
